Ellie's First Trip to the Dentist

Today Ellie made her first trip to the dentist.  She saw Dr. Golub in Montgomery who we had been told was the coolest pediatric dentist in town.  She had a great time and got a perfect report!  No cavities or problems of any kind.  I guess she has been doing a great job brushing her teeth!
Daddy took her since it was his morning off and he said the office was pretty cool.  There were arcade games filling the waiting room.  The exam room was decorated with a rocket ship theme.  Instead of a sucker or a sticker she got a new toothbrush with a travel cover and a token to spend on her choice of toys in a bank of quarter machines!  Pretty cool idea, I think!  She chose a purple and pink superball!  Next time she'll have to take her little sister along!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon In Marietta 3/22

It was so nice on Sunday we spent most of the day outside...played in the yard, dug in the rocks, went for a walk, had a picnic.  Grandma needed some help washing out the drink cooler.  Ellie of course was more than willing to help out!  Lainey was quick to get in on the fun too!

Lainey was obviously enjoying herself!

Grandpa decided to get in on the fun and water some flowers.
For the first hour or so of playing in the water the girls were just filling up containers, dumping them out, and then stomping around in the puddles.  I had mentioned that they were going to need a bath before we headed back to Cincinnati because they were so dirty.  I went inside for just a few minutes and next thing I knew Lainey had stripped down and Grandpa found her trying to climb into the tub of ice cold hose water.  I guess she heard the word bath and started to strip!  It was warm yesterday, but not that warm!
I guess they didn't mind the cold!
A FUN Time was had by all!!

Aunt Shanna's Baby Shower

This past weekend we headed home to Marietta for a baby shower for my sister Shanna.  The girls, Ellie especially, were very excited!  They were a big help to Aunt Nanna as she opened her presents!  Each person was supposed to bring a book to the shower instead of a card to build the library for the new baby.  Ellie and Lainey chose one of their favorites...Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi!  Here they are showing off their gifts to the baby.

The night before the shower Ellie was singing songs while Namaw Jenny played the piano as they often do.  Ellie decided she would make invitations for everyone and put on a performance during the shower.  She made 30 invitations and handed them to the shower guests as they arrived on Saturday afternoon.  After all the gifts and games were done, she put on a show including such all time favorites as...The ABC Song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Mary Had A Little Lamb.  Lainey even joined in too!

March Milestones

Early March brought major milestones for each of the girls.

Ellie got her first shiner!!  No, she didn't have a run in with a bully on the playground.  She actually ran into the island in our kitchen!  It was a pretty good one!  When you ask her about the experience she proudly states, "I only cried for 3 or 2 minutes!"

Lainey's milestone was a little less traumatic.  Her hair finally became long enough to put into pig tails!  She now requests them (or a ponytail) daily and stands very still while I style her coiffure!  :)

Circus 2/27/09

A group from church planned an outing to the circus back in February.  I wasn't able to go because of a previous commitment, but Matt took the girls and they had a great time!

Lainey's favorite part...the elephants!
Here she is showing off her new circus hat!

Ellie's favorite part...something about a guy getting his hat stolen and then trying to get it back!  I think she's talking about the clowns, but I never have been able to get the full story.
She LOVES cotton candy and was able to talk Daddy into splurging on her favorite treat!
